Bookworm's Fav Heroes in Film

Hello Islanders. Today Hugh and I will be discussing Fav Heroes in Film.

We all have our favorites...here are just a few of mine...

1. James McAvoy playing Tom Lefroy in Becoming Jane.

He plays Jane Austen's love interest, and says things like:

What value will there ever be in life, if we are not together?

2. Leonardo DiCaprio playing Romeo in Romeo + Juliet.

Oh Leo! So passionate, so beautiful!

Death, that hath sucked the honey of thy breath, hath had no power yet upon thy beauty.

3. Johnny Depp playing Capt.Jack Sparrow.

Everyones favorite pirate.

Ladies! Will you please shut it? Listen to me. Yes, I lied to you. No, I don't love you. Of course it makes you look fat. I've never been to Brussels. It is pronounced "egregious". By the way, no, I've never met Pizzaro but I love his pies. And all of this pales to utter insignificance in light of the fact that my ship is once again gone. Savvy?

4. Hugh Jackman playing Wolverine

He's angry, he's tortured, yet he's got a heart of gold beneath that rough exterior.

I thought you were the Moon and I was your Wolverine. Turns out you're the Trickster, and I'm just the fool who got played.

5. Brad Pitt playing Tristan Ludlow in Legends of the Fall.

Tristan is the sexy bad boy who women fall in love with. And look at that hair!

6. Gerard Butler playing Gerry in P.S. I Love You

The man writes some fantastic love letters.

Dear Holly, I don't have much time. I don't mean literally, I mean you're out buying ice cream and you'll be home soon. But I have a feeling this is the last letter, because there is only one thing left to tell you. It isn't to go down memory lane or make you buy a lamp, you can take care of yourself without any help from me. It's to tell you how much you move me, how you changed me. You made me a man, by loving me Holly. And for that, I am eternally grateful... literally. If you can promise me anything, promise me that whenever you're sad, or unsure, or you lose complete faith, that you'll try to see yourself through my eyes. Thank you for the honor of being my wife. I'm a man with no regrets. How lucky am I. You made my life, Holly. But I'm just one chapter in yours. There'll be more. I promise. So here it comes, the big one. Don't be afraid to fall in love again. Watch out for that signal, when life as you know it ends. P.S. I will always love you

7. Ryan Gosling playing Noah Calhoun in The Notebook

Another fabulous love letter writer. *sigh*

My Dearest Allie. I couldn't sleep last night because I know that it's over between us. I'm not bitter anymore, because I know that what we had was real. And if in some distant place in the future we see each other in our new lives, I'll smile at you with joy and remember how we spent the summer beneath the trees, learning from each other and growing in love. The best love is the kind that awakens the soul and makes us reach for more, that plants a fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds, and that's what you've given me. That's what I hope to give to you forever. I love you. I'll be seeing you. -Noah

Okay, so those are a few of my fav Fav Heroes in Film. Who are your favorites?

I'm off now, Hugh wants to take me for a walk on the beach then read me a bit of poetry.

Bookworm's Five Great Bookish Heroes

Hello fellow islanders, it's my turn to post here at the DIK blog. *yay*
I'm The Bookworm and my blog is at http://thebookworm07.blogspot.com/

I've brought the fabulous Hugh Jackman along with me today to chat Fav Bookish Heroes. Who better than the sexiest man alive as inspiration for discussing fav heroes?
Hugh has just gotten his fine self out of the water...look at him go!!!! Let me help him dry off before I get my list started...... :)

Okay. When it comes to bookish heroes, I've got plenty of favorites, we could be here all day.
But for today, i've narrowed it down to five.

So here's my list of 5 great bookish heroes:

1. The Marquis of Alverstoke from Georgette Heyer's Frederica

The Marquis is a ladies man, rich and has a great sense of humor. He likes getting his uppity family in a huff and thinks it's fun riling them up a bit.

Then came Frederica, upsetting his cool calculations, thrusting responsibilities
upon him, intruding more and more into the ordered pattern of his life, and casting him into a state of unwelcome doubt. And, try as he would, he could discover no reason for this uncomfortable change in himself. She had more
countenance than beauty; she employed no arts to attract him; she was heedless
of convention; she was matter-of-fact, and managing, and not at all the sort of
female whom he had ever wished to encourage.

2. Frederick Wentworth from Jane Austen's Persuasion
I've said it before, and i'll say it again, Wentworth writes a love letter like nobody's business.
And he's loved Anne for years even though they were apart.

I can listen no longer in silence. I must speak to you by such means as are within my reach. You pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope. Tell me not that I am too late, that such precious feelings are gone for ever. I offer myself to you again with a heart even more your own, than when you almost broke it eight years and a half ago. Dare not say that man forgets sooner than woman, that his love has an earlier death. I have loved none but you. Unjust I may have been, weak and resentful I have been, but never inconstant.

3. James Cordier from Your Scandalous Ways by Loretta Chase

Okay, this man is a British spy, master of disguises and speaks several languages...*ahem* Need I say more?

He couldn't be real.Greek and Roman statues looked like that, not living men. Mythical gods and demigods looked like that, not mortal men.But he was breathing. Hard. She watched his big chest rise and fall under his sopping shirt. The sodden linen was merely a veil clinging to his skin, hiding nothing. She could discern every taut line of muscle in his powerful shoulders and arms and torso.

(sounds like she's talking about Hugh right?)

4. Edward Cullen from Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series.
I know, I know, I couldn't help but add Edward to my list. He's just perfection.

"I may not give you back, though," he said with a wicked glint in his eyes.I gulped. He laughed. "You look worried.""No," I said, but, ridiculously, my voice broke. Surprised, actually...what brought all this on?""I told you-I got tired of trying to stay away from you. So I'm giving up." He was still smiling, but his ocher eyes were serious."Giving up?" I repeated in confusion."Yes-giving up trying to be good. I'm just going to do what I want now, and let the chips fall where they may." His smile faded as he explained, and a hard edge crept into his voice."You lost me again."The breathtaking crooked smile reappeared.

5. Ryan Sanderson from Marie Force's Line of Scrimmage

Hmmmm...he's gorgeous, sexy, has been voted Sexiest Athlete Alive and he plays guitar. 'Nuff said!

He kissed her with a passion and thoroughness that took them both by surprise. She was startled to realize the almost chemical attraction they'd always had for each other had grown and intensified during thier long separation. His tongue tangled with hers, and the taste that was so uniquely his only fueled her desire for more. When she slid her hand into the back of his jeans, he moaned and tumbled down on top of her.

Well ladies, that's all for now. Stay tuned, Hugh and I will be back tomorrow to discuss fav heroes in film.

In the meantime I have to go, Hugh is calling me....

'What's that Hugh? You want to go skinny dipping?....ya don't have to ask me twice!'

King Mho Fho Brings the Kink Back to the Island!

Why hello there lovely ladies of the DIK island. For those who don't know me, I am King Mho Fho, the king of the demon sheep. I rule over Demonville and shack up with Katiebabs. KB and I are soul mates. She has tons of books that I can rub all over my body and she is a true redhead.
.
Redheads are hot mommas!
.
The reason I am here for the last day of KB's posts is that the poor dear had a bit too much fun during the BBQ last night. And since there is a sock on the doorknob to her hut and I keep hearing scream, "YES RICHARD... RYAN... and many different men's name, including Michael who she shouted out that he take her to heaven and beyond", I decided to let the poor girl have her rest and ler her sleep in.
.
KB is going to be sorry, because I have a very, very dirty mind. Have you heard the rumors about my mammoth balls? They are the things legends are made of!
.
Because I am so warped and I am a male and sex is all we males think of, I am here to recommend some great books that have some WTFOMGBBQ sex scenes in them that will make you all tingly inside. Or perhaps that tingle is you becoming sick because these scenes are true eye-poppers. There is always one book that will shock our minds because the sex acts are so unbelieveable, kind of like a car accident. You should look away, but you can't.
.
By accident I picked up Raine by Elizabeth Amber. I couldn't help myself because after KB read that book, she was in a corner rocking and mumbeling under her breath. Because I am a demon sheep I can read anything and not be afraid. Raine was great! I wanted more! You have the heroine of the story who has an extra awesome appendage! She has a dick!! The hero, the king of the fairies has two dicks. Put them together and the fun keeps on coming! Every hole on the body can be plugged. Ever want to have ear secks and butt secks at the same time? Raine is a great manual on how to do it.
.
Then there is butt secks on a horse. This great acrobatic sex scene comes from Sam's Creed by Sarah McCarty. Ah the sweet burn the heroine feels as she and her studly hero have a ride they will never forget. No lube or foreplay is required in this book. I guess the up and down motion of the horse is enough. Up goes our plucky heroine, down she is impaled on the hero with the great package. Up and down they go through the desert. No bathing required, and these two still smell like flowers and sweet manly musk.
.
Into the Darkness by Delilah Devlin has a lot of twitching cocks and slick folds. It takes place in New Orleans and the steam that rises off the cement is from all the sexin going on. There are a lot of horny ass vampires in Deliah's books. Her poor heroines are so horny and go into heat at a moment's notice. Even if they are in danger, these women must have their sex ASAP! And if there are two men around, they must service her. WOW! Lucky girl.
.
Finally, there is one book that has become my all time favorite in WTFOMGBBQ sex scenes. KB twitches everytime I ask her to read Dawn Thompson's Lord of the Deep with me and act out the scenes. For some reason she screams and runs away. KB can be so mean to me sometimes *pout* What is so bad about the heroine having sex with a tree? Trees are very old and wise and could probably pleasure more heroines in romance and erotica than the heroes can.
.
I really do like to act out the books I read, and since you have welcomed me to this wonderful island where there are more women I can seduce, I will act out a scene from Lord of the Deep!
.
Set Scene:
Meg is running away from deranged molesting priest who wants to rape her. Meg is saved from wack-o-doo priest from the enchanted trees. Meg is so very greatful and the trees want to be rewarded...
.
I am Meg. See my pretty pink bow?

.
"Thank you mister tree for saving me from that big bad man." *Smooch*

.
"Mister tree, why are you touching me that way? Oh that tickles!"
*Tree whispers in Meg Mho Fho's ear*
"Oh, you want a reward? I need to lie down? But why? Oh I see, you want to help me "relax" Okay!"

*a few minutes later... "Mister tree I feel like a new woman! Your massage was incredible! Now I must skip away and find my horny selkie lover who will have his wicked way with many times on a sponge under the ocean."
.
Mister tree is sad. "Oh Mister Tree, don't be sad! Later on I will be in trouble again and you willl come to my rescue. You can give me another massage then! Toodles"

See what fun you can have acting out WTFOMGBBQ sex scenes from books? Do you have any you are brave enough to admit you enjoying reading? Don't be shy!
...
This ends my time here. Excuse me why me and my fluffy pink bow waddle over to the bar. Because I look mighty fine in my bow and have such mammoths for the ladies to admire, I should have a few phone numbers before the end of the night.
.
And if you see a bow over the doorknob of my hut, don't come a knocking. *wink *
.
I wonder what KB will think if I ask to take me shopping for new bows for my wool?

It's BBQ Time! *Stories Around the Camp Fire*

KB here for y second day of fun on the DIK blog! Get the hamburgers and hot dogs ready cause it is the most awesome of all the BBQ's you will attend this summer. Welcome to the DIK island BBQ where the men are smokin' hot and the women are even hotter. Your DIK island hostesses have enough food and drink to go around and for dessert some yummy smores to wet your sweet tooth...

Camping in the woods is a bit like being on an island. Well, there are some differences between camping in the woods and staying on a desert island. While camping you may see bigger bugs, more poison ivy around to make you itch and the only plumbing is the outhouse that you may have to go use in the middle of the night, all alone as you hear scary noises in the woods.

Also there is a small case of serialkillerinhockeymaskgoingtokillmeitis.

Imagine if you will, you are sitting around a campfire in the middle of the woods. The night is a clear where the stars are bright in the sky. There is a chill in the air where you need to wear a sweatshirt and a blanket around your legs. Your camping group has sang every song you can think of and some of you have a buzz going from all the beer you are drinking. Or maybe someone has had a few too many bottles of wine. For those who don't drink the booze, you are on a caffeine high from the six pack of soda ingested.

And there is always one who has eaten too many smores and they moan in pain. Must remember that smores are not like jello. Sometimes there just isn't enough room for smores.

Someone stands up and decides to tell a spooky ghost story. One that will make you run to that outhouse because you are so scared that you may wet yourself. It may begin like this....

"Once upon a time, on a night just as this, Mary Lou and her beau Tommy Bo were walking down a dirt road holding hands. Night had fallen and they had taken a wrong turn. They were lost and the wind was howling and an owl was screeching. Mary Lou shivered in fear.

"Oh Tommy Bo! I am so scared!"

Tommy Bo puffs out his chest. "Don't worry Mary Lou. I will protect you."

Tommy puts his arms around Mary Lou's shoulders, her perky breasts rub against his own chest and he shivers. They walk faster down the road when all of a sudden they hear a crash through the trees and out pops...

So, this is where you, the guests of DIK island chime in! It is a round robin around the fire spooky ghost story that will send chills up and down your spine. If we keep the story going late into the wee hours, there will be a wonderful surprise planned for Saturday's post. My demon sheep, King Mho Fho will be stopping by with something special for you all. (Mainly to embarrass him) The picture below will give you a hint of what he has planned...

Yes, this is Mho, and yes, he is wearing a bow and looks like he is hugging a tree. He is acting out a scene from a book I have read that I talk about all the time.

So, let us continue, Tommy Bo and Mary Lou hear a crash in the woods and out pops...

Visions of Men Dancing in My Head

When I first started reading, I would never envision the characters I read about as the actors or actress that I liked. But all that has changed.

There are four famous actors that most women, including myself, go gaga over. These four men are in every hero I have been reading. And since this is the island where we have a group of women who appreciate a nice looking man, I have welcomed them to the DIK island and for a sleepover in my hut, the most rockin one here!
.
Ladies, the sleepover is invite only, so better start sucking up so you can be placed on the VIP list.

Hunky Gaga man #1: Ryan Reynolds

*hello mister peek-a-boo abs*

.
I admit it, I have become obsessed with Ryan Reynolds. Ever since I saw him in Wolverine, he has made me all tingly inside. If you have seen Wolverine, then you know what I'm talking about. He practically steals the movie away from Hugh Jackman. He also was wonderful in The Proposal. And he is not just some eye candy on the screen. The man can act. And don't get me started on that body of his in Blade 3. He has a beard in that movie and I am not a fan of bearded men, and I still couldn't stop the drool.
Because Ryan is known more for his comedic skills, every funny contemporary I have read this year has Ryan as the hero. The one book that I hope is made into a movie, is Practice Makes Perfect by Julie James. This is one of my favorite books this year and Ryan would be perfect as the J.D. Jameson. Can you just imagine Ryan in a suit and tie? A man in a suit is a very sexy thing indeed and with Ryan Reynolds in one, you can bet millions of women would be in the theaters fanning themselves!

Hunky Gaga Man #2: Gerard Butler

Gerard has that way about him where he can pull off any hero in any genre. I can't help but seem him as Jamie in Diana Gabaldon's Outlander. Yes, I know Gerry is a bit too old and would have to dye his hair red, but can't you just imagine him in a kilt and a boots with a big sword in his hands? And no shirt? He wears scruff so well. I kept seeing him as Benedict “Gray” Grayson, the hero in Tessa Dare's soon to be released Surrender the Siren (August 25, Ballantine). Gray is a former pirate captain gone respectable. He is a bit rough around the edges but makes your heart melt. Plus, Gray is wonderfully scruffy throughout the whole book. Gerry is scruffy also. See, a perfect fit!
**And if I ever read any books set in the Roman era, all the men will look like Gerry. I blame the movie 300 for that.**

Hunky Gaga Man #3: Johnny Depp
.

This is one man who can be play any hero, regardless of the book. In part, because Johnny is such wonderful actor. He will go down in history as one of the best actors of the 21st century. When I read Scandal by Carolyn Jewel, I saw Johnny playing the Earl of Banallt. Banallt is a slick character but underneath it all, he suffers because he has fallen in love with a woman who refuses him. I can see Johnny so well as Banallt. I also see Johnny as Daemon the Sadist in Anne Bishop's Black Jewel books. When Daemon broods or is raging and about to make his enemies around him suffer, I see Johnny lashing out. I see him crooning, begging pleading to his heart and soul mate Jaenelle.

Hunky Gaga Man #4: Richard Armitage.
.

I am such a Richard fan girl it is not even funny. He can play either hero or villain and I would be happy. Richard oozes such restraint and broody sexiness that cannot be compared to any actor that I know of. He is the only man who can wear eyeliner and leather during the medieval era (BBC's Robin Hood) and I don't giggle. I want to lick the eyeliner off and pull off those leather pants...

ahem.
Where else has a man pulled off wearing a cravat oh so well? Only Colin Firth comes in a distant second. Watch North and South and you will see what I am talking about. I was so obsessed with how Richard, playing John, wore his cravat. Richard has become every historical romance hero for me. I see him so well as Professor Alexi Rychman in Leanna Renee Hieber's The Strangely Beautiful Tale of Percy Parker (Dorchester, August 25). Alexi is an excellent brooder. Richard does it so well. Put these two together and you will be swooing like Percy does. I found myself swooning.
.
On this island we welcome you to talk about your favorite actors, and yes, even those actresses, who you see playing your favorite characters in the books you have read.
.
Excuse me while I prepare for the sleepover extravaganza for tonight! Dress to impress in your best PJ's. It is going to be a late night. And if you see a cravat over my bedroom door knob, you know to keep walking by...
