Can I admit how excited I am at being called a "best selling author"?

Synopsis: Lily Odell was the belle of Charleston, South Carolina high society until her husband, Beau, walked out on her after believing she’d been unfaithful to him. Lily has always been devoted to Beau, although she has kept a dark secret concerning her relationship with her childhood girlfriend. Now Lily has been ostracized because of the gossip and lies and has no one to turn to for help.

Charleston’s most popular brothel madam, Mrs. Rose Ware, lives her life on her own terms and answers to no one. When she discovers Beau abandoned Lily and has thrown her out on the street, Rose takes Lily in until she can get back on her feet. Rose has always been attracted to the spirited and beautiful Lily, but kept her feelings to herself because of her wanton reputation and her past with Beau. Now that Beau’s out of the picture, she might have a chance to seduce the heartbroken Lily.

Lily wants revenge against Beau, and Rose is more than willing to help her. Soon both women come up with a plan, one that will scandalize Charleston, and expose a forbidden passion between a brothel madam and a genteel Southern lady.

Lily placed her hand over Rose’s. “Why didn’t you come to me last night?” she asked.

Rose’s hand twitched as Lily drifted her fingers back and forth over the side of her stiff ones. She finally pulled away, dropping her arms to her sides. “You had Beau to take care of you. I wasn’t needed.”

“You’re a foolish, stubborn woman, Rose Ware,” Lily stated in an incensed voice.

Rose opened her mouth to argue, but not one peep left her, for Lily hands came around her head and gave her a kiss.

A deep moan left Rose, and when Lily’s fingers dug into the back of her nape, she pulled her roughly against her and kissed her greedily. She gave her open mouth kisses, which Lily received by opening her own mouth wide and tangling her tongue with Rose’s searching one.

By the time she needed air, Rose had pulled Lily’s hair out of her pins and her mouth was swollen and red. Her own throbbed, among other key areas on her body aching to be caressed and filled.

“I should make you angry more often,” Rose joked and spread her fingers through Lily’s hair, making a curtain over her shoulders.

Lily gave her a disgruntled look as she pressed her palms against Rose’s chest. Rose shifted to push her breast into Lily’s palm. Lily cupped her there, squeezing her flesh and causing her nipple to harden.

“I came here to talk to you.” Lily removed her hand.

Rose released a suffering sigh. “Then why did you kiss me just now? It makes me want to do other things besides talk.” Rose went over to the settee in the corner and patted the seat next to her. Lily followed and sat down, taking Rose’s hands in both of hers.

“I missed you and wanted to make certain you tasted the same like the last time I kissed you,” Lily said and turned Rose’s hand over to trace the lines on her palm.

Lily’s simple touch made her inner thighs slick and she pressed her legs tightly together to cover her arousal. First they would clear the air and then spend an hour or so involved in more amorous pursuits if she had any say.

A KT Grant Ponder: Is Research Important To You as a Reader?

Are you the type of reader who will mark down a book based on inaccuracies found in something you have read?

I've noticed lately if say, in a contemporary novel, the author has incorrect information about a character's profession (mainly the hero or heroine), book reviewers will call the author on it or give it a lower grade. Or in a historical romance, if events haven't occurred yet, or something hasn't been invented, but yet the event if mentioned or some sort of item  is used at one point, readers will become annoyed.

As an author who writes both contemporary and historical fiction, I'm full aware I have to do some research when writing a book. An example is with my soon to be release from Ravenous Romance called Scandal in the Wind. Scandal takes place in Charleston, South Carolina in 1871. This is a lesbian historical romance where a soon to be divorced Southern belle ends up in a sexual relationship with a Madam of a brothel.

When writing Scandal in the Wind, I had to keep in mind that two women, such as my heroines, couldn't be as public with the affections mainly because of the time and setting. Scenarios where women drink alcohol in public, including something as simple as having a newspaper sent to a house are two things I had to research. Also, the wardrobe for both men and women had to be correct. I even went as far as finding out what flowers and plant life are indigenous to that area.

Details and facts can be very important to some when reading, but in the end it's all subjective.

Are you one of these readers who expect the facts in the book to be correct or do you just shrug and go with the flow?

DIK Ladies, Yet Authors. It's like bringing home the bacon AND frying it up in the pan!

Yes we have guest authors here on DIK all the time and we LOVE them! We always love to hear about them and their books. But did you know that we have four of our very own DIK ladies that are published authors? No? Well let me tell you a little bit about them (in DIK name alpha order).

First we have Carolyn Crane aka Carolyn Jean aka CJ. Carolyn released her first novel with Bantam/Spectra Publishing, Mind Games, in March 2010, The first book in the Disillusionist trilogy. It’s an UF tale with romance within – yum! Soon we’ll have book 2 in the series, Double Cross, on September 28, 2010. Woohoo! Can’t wait for this one!

Our next author, KT Grant, aka Katiebabs, hails from New Joisey, uh, I mean New Jersey and had her first release, Lovestruck, in May 2010.  This is an f/f contemporary May/December romance with Noble Romance Publishing. She also had a novella release in May, The Gentleman’s Loving Spy in the Once Upon a Threesome anthology from Ravenous Romance (fyi the Ravenous link to the book seems to be broken so I added the Kindle edition link for you). She just had yet another release in July 2010, For The Love of Mollie, from Decadent Publishing which is an m/f contemporary romance.Good job KB!  Oh, I mean, KT!

KB's Weight Loss Journey and For the Love of Mollie Book Giveaway

Hey all desert island fans! KB here for the next three days bringing you some fun and excitement. I'm so thrilled to be starting the week off at the DIK Blog because not only do I have one book release out this week, but actually two! So, please give me a moment to pimp myself out.

You may all know me as that eccentric blogger who loves to post WTFckery and book reviews, but I also live a double life as an author as KT Grant. My debut release, Lovestruck, came out on May 31st from Noble Romance Publishing. I thought it would be awhile since I'd have another release, but was pleasantly surprised that after submitting to the new epublisher, Decadent Publishing, they accept my erotic contemporary romance called For the Love of Mollie.

 Anyone want to pet the man-titty?

For the Love of Mollie is about Mollie McGree, who wants to lose weight. All her life she has felt unworthy of a man's love because she thinks she's always been to big for a man to be attracted to her. She's close friends with Juan Carlos, a  masseuse, she wants badly. Mollie decides she'll join a gym and will lose the weight, where Juan Carlos will then want her on a more romantic level. What Mollie doesn't count on is the gym's owner, Conner Bean, the young, very successful fitness instructor, who thinks Mollie is perfect the way she is. He'll seduce Mollie and show her that she doesn't need to lose any weight.

The character of Mollie hit somewhat close to home for me because all through my childhood and into my late teens I had a weight problem. By the time I was a junior in college, I had ballooned up to 240 lbs. I wore a size 24 in pants and XX large shirts. I've tried to lose weight in the past because I was sick of being made fun of and thought if I got down to a single digit, I would go on dates and hopefully have a date to the prom. Those diets never lasted that long and all through high school I never dated and never did go to the senior prom.

What made me decide to lose weight was for myself. It wasn't to impress some guy I may have had a crush on, or to stop the comments from family and friends that I have a beautiful face, but would look so much better if I lost weight. Many times men would say I was a cute fat girl. So, my senior year of college, I worked out in the school fitness center with a certain weight goal in mind. I said goodbye to 3am Denny's runs. By the time I graduated, I met that goal.

Now twelve years later, I've kept off the weight and went on to lose a total of 80 lbs. I wear a size 10 the majority of the time. Unfortunately my chest size disappeared in such a way that I really don't need to wear a bra. So are the sacrifices I had to make. Mollie makes the decision to lose the weight to impress someone who does care for her, but only as a friend because he's in love with someone else. Mollie is in for a surprise, because Conner, who she believes only finds himself attracted to fit, skinny women because of his job and lifestyle, thinks she is his perfect woman. He loves her curves and body, and even gets angry that she wants to be this ideal looking woman that society thinks women should be.

It all comes down to what makes you happy. The moment I made that decision to lose the weight and live healthier for myself and no one else, I felt free, as if that weight was lifted. And now I can look back at all my hard work and be proud of myself. That's what I tried to accomplish with For the Love of Mollie and the love she finds with Conner, who may possibly be too perfect, But hey, it's a romance after all!
