Desert Island Giveaway Grand Finale

Well, all great things must come to and end. *sniffles* (Kris: Boo hoo, blah, blah.) But we hope you all have enjoyed the DIK Winter Giveaway!

We've certainly had a great time giving away all of these wonderful books and gift cards because we love you and have appreciated all of the support you have given us throughout 2010. (Kris: Actually I said that we should keep them on the island, but was outnumbered. And they call themselves Book Sluts. Hmpf!)

You all can visit us on the island whenever you'd like to party in the huts and have a tropical drink or two. (Kris: No they can’t. Remember we decided we were sick and tired of all the guests hitting on our menz. Yeah. Bugger off already.)

So we thought we'd end the most awesome DIK Giveaway with a bang. Ok, this is more like a nuclear explosion but you get the idea. (Kris: Anyone else thinking about Freud and DIKs and bangs and eruptions?? Oh, you so are. Fibbers.)

Because the finale is so big (Kris: See!) we've decided that we're going to give you a longer time to enter (Kris: *waggles eyebrows*). That's right, we're going to give everyone until the 8th of January, 2011 at 11:59pm (pacific) to enter.

For the Grand Finale we are splitting (Kris: *orifice clench*) up the books into separate categories for m/m and m/f and will draw a winner for each lot. Your read that correctly... two people will win a bunch of loot!

When you comment don’t forget to leave your email address and you will need to let us know which category you're going for - or if you want both. (Kris: *nods* We’re very flexible at DIK.) Easy peasy, right? Right.

So what's up for grabs???

Category 1: An incredibly spectacular m/m package: (not that kind of package - mind out of the gutters, people!) (Kris: HA!)

1 print copy of 72 hours by Clare London
1 ebook copy of Tigers and Devils by Sean Kennedy
1 ebook copy of Wings of Equity by Sean Kennedy
1 print copy of Jacob's Ladder by ZA Maxfield
1 ebook copy of Electric Melty Tingles by KZ Snow
1 ebook copy of Hammer & Air by Amy Lane
(Click on book names for blurbs)

Category 2: A astoundingly amazing prize package of m/f!

1 print copy of Play of Passion by Nalini Singh
1 print copy of Skin Heat by Ava Gray
(Click on book names for blurbs)

Finally, we’d like to thank all the wonderfully generous authors who donated books to the DIK Winter Giveaway. We couldn’t have had such a terrific experience without you all. You guys rock!

Once again we wish everyone a 2011 full of good reads, good luck!

(Kris: I suddenly feel the need for a cigarette...)

The Nalini Singh Hostage Crisis: Day 3

Contest for The Magical Christmas Cat has now CLOSED!
~~~Winner will be Posted Soon~~~
Discussions are still open so please have fun. :) Please don't forget to give Ms. Nalini a hug!
*HUGS*
As we reach the last day(last day? what are you talking about? she's not leaving...and I'm not done annoying people yet), Nalini, having now been sufficiently tortured (not yet) with all you can drink drinks (Captain Jack Sparrow is tending the bar), a lovely floor show (heroes working the runway in the undergarment or lack of their choice(from yesa-ma-day)), and the full spa treatment, is ready for... *drum roll*...
The Q & A:
DIK Ladies: What can you tell us about Vasic? We now know that he is a part of the rebellion, but it also looks like he will be Ming LeBon's right hand man. How will this work out?
Ms. Nalini: Vasic is someone you'll get to see only glimpses of for a while. How things go depends on the world - he has to survive the madness of what he does. (You know, if these were written by any other romance author, he'd have a lot of smex therapy from random women to forget his pain. Not. Good. Method. IMO. NOW do you see why I like these menz a bit better?)
DIK Ladies: And there is the who is Ghost question? Any hints, teases, anything? Will Ghost and Anthony Kyriakus meet? Will they join forces against the Psy Council?
Ms. Nalini: It's funny - I've turned in BRANDED BY FIRE and I'm desperately trying to remember if what I want to talk about was in Mercy or Dorian's book! Let's just say your questions (some of them) will be answered soon. (Oh ho! So you've sent it in, have you... heh heh heh heh heh heh heh...)
DIK Ladies: Then there is Kaleb Krychek. Will there be more about the relationship between Kaleb and the Darkmind? Will Kaleb get down and dirty with someone? And will we find out more about the mysterious mark on his arm?
Ms. Nalini: You'll continue to see Kaleb. You don't really want me to answer the questions, right? I mean, what would be the fun in that? *g* Ok, since I know you'll call me a tease if I don't give you something - the mark on his arm is important, and yes, you'll find out what it means...eventually. (Does he get smex therapy too? Or does he use the bad kind of therapy...)
DIK Ladies: Will there be more of Zie Zen? How does he fit into the overall scheme of things?
Ms. Nalini: Zie Zen is a bit of a dark horse, so we'll see him if he wants to be seen. (He too old for smex therapy... at least, I don't want to hear about it ... he's also a bit more whole than the previously mentioned males.)
DIK Ladies: We've seen most of the Psy Council up-close and personal except for Tatiana Rika-Smythe. Could tell us more about her? Will she have a bigger role in up-coming books?
Ms. Nalini: *cough* Branded By Fire *cough* (That's not an answer! That's a teaser!!! Let me make you some lemon honey tea. Want a cough drop with that? Oh this? This isn't a homemade rope? Of course I'm not using this for anything! Don't be silly, why would I want to tie anyone up and slowly torture them into telling me things by eating yummy chocolate in front of them? *cough*)
DIK Ladies: I was intrigued by the new Psy group, the Pure Psy. I'm imagine them to be kind of like the Psy version of the Ku Klux Klan. What role do you see them playing in your future books and will they play a strong role in the up-coming upheaval?
Ms. Nalini: Pure Psy is interesting and they will have a part to play in the upcoming stories, They're still finding their footing, so their role is evolving. (Everything has an important part. Just give me the smexy scenes and sweet scenes, thank ya-I know the rest! Brain beams~~~)
DIK Ladies: Which then brings me to the Human Alliance. I know that they will have a larger role in up coming books, but is there anything you can share with us about them?
Ms. Nalini: They're not as single-minded as they might seen. You'll have a lot of questions answered in Mercy's book. (This is like add very blubbery oil to an already out of control blaze slowly wiping out what's left of this puny existance. Guess what's going on in that picture right above here. Heh? I have choco chip cookies for correct answers.)
DIK Ladies: And we can't leave out learning more about the Changlings. I know in Caressed by Ice, you had hinted that Lucas and Hawke were going to get together and form some sort of Changling alliance to share information and to protect Packs from the Psy, will we see some of this happening?
Ms. Nalini: In my head, this is already happening LOL I'll probably talk about this more in one of the future books - the facets of the world you see in each book really depends on whose story it is. (Tell me more about my Mercy...Sienna...Indigo! Oh come on! This is totally nettling me.)
DIK Ladies: Who will have the first Psy/Changling baby? Are any pregnancies on the way? When will we see them?
Ms. Nalini: Excellent question. Okay, I won't dodge this. There is one on the way. But I won't tell you who. Speculate away! (Ya know, if they've all been boinking away several times a night for the past year and a half with no mention of those french letters -yes I'm using that term- logically, they should have popped out a few by now. Popped out. I poke joke, poke joke. Horray to little babies running afoot!)
DIK Ladies: I just love the scenes with the cubs/pups/kids (and that's saying something since usually I don't like them), were did your inspiration for them?
Ms. Nalini: Mostly, I just like kids. The way they see the world - it's so unique and joyous. While growing up, I was often the oldest kid in a big extended family, so I got babysitting duties at parties and things. I used to entertain them - young children are so much fun. I think just being around so many children has helped shape the way I write them. (I actually played scrabble with a five year old yesterday. He had us all rolling around in laughter!) (How cute! I love children too! They're so sweet and blunt and squishy~~~)
DIK Ladies: You've hinted about Faith's missing cousin, Sahara and that she will make an appearance and be a somewhat important character in the story arc. When will see her?
Ms. Nalini: Sahara has to wait a while yet. (Just like my little Kit and Tai...those darling little dears)
DIK Ladies: You writes such steamy love scenes, how do you do it/prepare to write such scenes? Inspirations? *wink*
Ms. Nalini: I make it all up. Promise! *g* (Uh huh...just like I'm making up this ability to get stories beamed into my head, right? Neveh!)
DIK Ladies: About Angel's Blood. The excerpt is absolutely mesmerizing and I'm lovin' the concept of dark, dangerous, sexy Angels. How did you come up with this idea?
Ms. Nalini: You know, I can't tell you. I just sat down and wrote it. If I'd stopped to think about it, I might've wondered at it, but I was too involved writing it! (You remember those days and nights you were assuring me how this series wasn't that bloody or graphic and violent? Yeah? Do ya? Well, I went to read the excerpt and if a body with every bone broken, pieces missing and a jaw dangling by a tendon-like thread of a muscle --- you know I only read this excerpt once and that image has now been burned into my memories...if I get nightmares, I'm so flying down there to make you tell me bedtime stories until the nightmares go away.)
DIK Ladies: What can you tell us about the Angel's Blood world? How do these Angels differ from the classical messengers of divinity? Will there be demons?
Ms. Nalini: How do they differ? Very much. I won't try to explain the world here, because I think reading the story itself will give a better overall experience. But I can say - no demons. (*mumbles* no licking of horns then *mumbles*)
DIK Ladies: How will your vampires differ from the others? Are they evil or good? And how do the Angels control them?
Ms. Nalini: These vampires are interesting because of how they're Made. Whether they're good or evil depends on the vampire - and whether they're sexy or not depends on the vampire too *grin* (Exactly, how they're made...like me...I can read the future, you know. I was made that way and my F-Psy ability's telling me HtP is going to hit the a certain bestseller list~or two.)
DIK Ladies: Will there be lots and lots hot steamin' sex scenes?
Ms. Nalini: This is a distinct possibility. (I demand hot sexy scenes. Don't you use those fade to black. I hate those! It's like waving a piece of mouth watering milky creamy caramel-filled chocolate then tossing it in your mouth and staring directly at me while chewing.)
A free copy of THE MAGICAL CHRISTMAS CAT (to be posted out when Nalini gets her author copies) is up for grabs, just leave comment during the Nalini Hostage Crisis to be entered into this drawing. Winner will be drawn at random on TODAY! All entries must be in by 12:00 PST. (Hey, what's that light? Why are there little blinking light everywhere? Why are there those shiny webs everywhere? Hey! I'm not done!!! This isn't right! I demand ---*pop*)
Please do not worry about those weird pink scribbles, they've been taken care of. We thank you for joining us, Ms. Nalini, on this wonderful three day adventure. Thanks Sarai and Tracy for letting us do this. And a big HUG to Amy for tirelessly keeping it all together...even if some weird mind got developed and involved. (Hugs to the Alys-Mind too... She's frisky, crazy, and fun *g*) We appreciate all of your visits and please do come back again. A word of caution. Don't. Touch. The. Menz. Without permission that is. But make sure to pick up one of Ms. Nalini's books!
Make sure to grab your copy of Hostage to Pleasure! It's now in a store near you (I hope)! Alice already took 2 copies so hurry and get yours (unfortunately for me, they were all SOLD OUT! *pout*)! And make sure to keep your eyes peeled for Nalini Singh's upcoming 2009 releases (Angel's Blood and Branded by Fire)!
The Nalini Singh Hostage Crisis: Day 2
Welcome to Day Two. As we continue with the interrogation, we have brought in the Psy-Changling hunky heroes (borrowed from various huts, thanks ladies) to help. So let us continue... (sure, borrowed...by the HLO!!! Ha! )
Nalini Singh's MEN
Okay, I'm going to choose heroes aside from my own (Lucas, Vaughn Dorian, Clay, Hawke, Dev and...more!), because where they're concerned, I'm a hussy (I want the women too, what does that make me? O_o They shall be happily taken care of as my pets.). I love them all! (All of them.)Here are my six, in no particular order.
Lucivar from Anne Bishop's Black Jewels Trilogy - He's so rough on the outside, and he's been hurt so badly, brutalized really by his slavery(bad kind of hostage system...we have the good kind, honest!). And yet, he's incredibly gentle with the woman he loves. He tries very hard to give Marian space (though he doesn't succeed *g*). Their story in the Dreams Made Flesh(hmmm, so many flesh in dreams...) anthology is one of my all time favorites - there are just so many great moments, such as when he teaches her to defend herself by throwing a skillet!
Kel Paton from Linnea Sinclair's Games of Command - his devotion just made my heart melt. On the surface, he was this perfect robotic male, but on the inside... The way he kept loving the heroine no matter what...wow. Who wouldn't want a male who can love that deeply? (*dreamy sigh* Who wouldn't...especially the rich sexy ones...mmm.)
Roarke from the JD Robb books - he's more than a little bad, gorgeous beyond compare and he adores his wife. What's not to like?!! (Hehehe)
Cade from Dark Desires After Dusk by Kresley Cole - I think Cade would be a great one to raise hell with. This guy knows how to have fun. I plain out liked Cade - I liked that he just said what he thought, that he wasn't sophisticated and didn't pretend to be, and that he fell for the heroine like nobody's business. (I keep waiting for the horn licking. Such a ...man... needs a nice lick of his horns. Lick. His. Horns.)
Jonas from the Breed books by Lora Leigh - ok, this is probably taking my life into my hands, but I'd love to have him to myself so I could find out all his secrets. What do you think my chances are? To be honest, Jonas a little scary (ok, maybe a lot scary) - but that makes me even more excited about his mate. I want to see the woman who brings down a man who is very used to being the boss. (Don't we all. That man needs a good whippin. A real, hard good... *g*)
Gabriel from A Secret Love by Stephanie Laurens - this was my very first Stephanie Laurens and it got me hooked on her books. Gabriel's so refined at first glance, and yet, there's a very protective alpha hero beneath the trappings of the elegant male. I like how he helps the heroine, how he's so mad at her for not coming to him earlier, and I most especially like how he tells her he loves her - that particular bit of the book is one of my favorites.
(Gabriel's one of my favorite Laurens creations. Agatha was just too cool and was a great match for this refining hotness. And that wall scene...mmm, nothing compared to the Lisa Kleypas raspberry scene, but very nice all the same.)
Now, for little treat and offering by yours truly (no, not me, Amy!). *knees and forehead to the ground with both palms out* Ohh, gratious one, please accept our gift of a mini show with various styles of the male body in wonderous nothings. In return, we ask for nothing more than peace upon our island and more naked men, unending supplies, and early releases of books we WANT: such as more smexiness of burning boinkings, or the horrifying dangers that exist for ethereal creatures of gray.
*lifts head and sits back with an exasperated sigh* Oh just beam the stories into my head. What do you mean you can't do it? Beam in gosh darn stories! I can see you, you know. Fine, be that way. Just keep your eyes on the little black screen...and it'll all be okay~~~
Intermission for the Runway Show!
Nalini Singh's Books
1.The entire Black Jewels trilogy - hey, it's one book if you get it in an omnibus! It's dark, it's dangerous, and it has some of the sensual men I've ever read. This is one world I can happily get lost in over and over again. I'm DELIGHTED that Anne Bishop is writing more books set in this universe. (yes, very dark...that way, no one can see anything except hear the screaming...the lovely sweet sound of deep rumbling screams...)
2. Remembrance by Jude Deveraux - it always makes me laugh and cry, no matter how many times I read it. It's a story about the most unbreakable of bonds, of two people who are literally one half each of a soul. It's so very deeply romantic. (the sex helps)
3. The Magic Trilogy - Mercedes Lackey (we'll just pretend this comes in an omnibus). The entire Valdemar series is amazing. If you haven't picked it up, why not?! I really love the characters in these books, the relationships, and the incredible world Ms.Lackey has created - it feels so real, I wish I could visit it. (But where's the hot steamy - you know where this is going.)
4. Naked in Death - because it started my JD Robb obsession. I love this series to pieces!! The characters, the world, the stories, it's all an amazing package, one that just keeps getting better book by book. (I like your's better and I'm NOT kissing up. I wouldn't need to now that I've put ... nothing, drink that butterscotch. It's good for you.)
5. Dark Prince by Christine Feehan - this was one of the first paranormals I read and I devoured it. I love how the hero knows from the start that the heroine is his, and that the story is about their coming together. His protective, possessive nature is also very alpha, and I love me some alpha men. (She jump-started a lot of my more...err...hard *coughsexcough* paranormals :D).
6. A blank book - because I can't imagine not writing! (Can I mooch off you? Hehehe. It's okay, I can make paper and write with blood...I didn't say anything about my own blood...)
And don't forget a free copy of THE MAGICAL CHRISTMAS CAT (to be posted out when Nalini gets her author copies) is up for grabs, just leave comment during the Nalini Hostage Crisis to be entered into this drawing. Winner will be drawn at random on Saturday! Please have you entries in by noon PST. (You're just too nice...now, if I could just have Branded by Fire...how much is my soul worth? How much is Amy's soul worth? What if I get you whichever soul you want? I can start from the left panel list down. Wait, let me grab some rope.)
The Nalini Singh Hostage Crisis: Day 1
In the honor of the release of the latest Psy-Changling book, Hostage to Pleasure, the HLO branch of the DIK has taken the one and only Nalini Singh hostage. We will now commense with the Monty-Python style interrogation with an DIK twist (torture her with comfortable chairs, soft pillows, frou frou drinks, and lots and lots of hunky hero madness). Please beware of the Alys-Mind that will be floating around the interview. She's most harmless. *g* (*toes a huge lump of rope under the couch* yes, I'm harmless...)
Now that she is comfortably situated in the guest cabana, please give a warm welcome to the one and only award winning author of the Psy-Changeling series, Nalini Singh!!! Not only is she a writer extraordinaire, she's also truly a very beautiful person. (OMG It's Nalini!!! Little Alys use this color now to make her little comments and annoy peoples. Hehehehehehe, guess which twin I am. *raises a brow*)
She's enslaved us with Slave to Sensation, then turned the heat up with Visions of Heat, then shattered the ice in Caressed by Ice and possessed us with Mine to Possess and is now taking us hostage with Hostage to Pleasure. (Oh yes. Yes yes yes.)
So lets start the interogation... *drum roll*... THE QUESTIONS! (Are we not going to use the whips then? okie doke)
What is you favorite reading position?
Curled up in a big armchair or in bed. But I have to admit - if I get caught up in a book, I'll keep reading even if I'm not comfortable (just one more page and then I'll move...) (Yes, it's only one more page. You know you want to. It's calling you saying "read me...read me!")
What is your best love song?
I have a love affair with Bollywood musicals, and some of those songs are so utterly romantic (And the dancing. Oh the dancing. Dance my pretties, dance!)
Who is your favorite heroine?
My Mum. She rocks (Awwww, isn't Nalini just great?!?!?!! You're my hostag-uh-hero ^_^...one of many >_<)
If you could be in one book/series/world which would you pick
Am I allowed to say my own Psy/Changeling one? I'd love to see my characters come to life - I'd be a changeling I think. That way, I could get to play with Rome and Jules :)
(Not to mention quite a few very hot characters whom wouldn't mind a little...scratching)
How old is your inside voice?
Early 20's. I keep expecting to grow up. Hasn't happened (Who wants to? Growing up is overrated)
What is you favorite sex song?
Slow Hand by the Pointer Sisters
If you could be a hero who would you be?
Oooh, tough. I just finished reading "Cry Wolf" by Patricia Briggs, and I'm fascinated by Bran. I want to get in his head and find out what he's thinking - he's so inscrutable most of the time, and yet you can feel this intense core inside him. What would it be like to be the most alpha of werewolves? (What?! You should say Lucas!!! Lucas...mmmm...the most alpha probably get lots of good se---attention *whispers* in bed)
What heroine would you like to be?
I think I'd like to be able to swap bodies at will - that way, I can be there when the heroine experiences something cool, but not when she's being chased by a psychopathic killer. *g* It'd be kind of fun to be Lieutenant Eve Dallas from the JD Robb books for a day - say a day when she's spending all her time with Roarke! (You sure? you sure it's not Sascha, or Ashaya...or Mercy? Oh wait, that's me...hmm...how to influence you ^_~)
Boxers, briefs, boxer briefs, kilt, commando?
You know, I think I need a live floor-show before I can choose. Think you could organize it? ;) (Sarai?!?!! Can we? Tracy? May we please? I really would like to see it too. I'll even help round up the menz...I won't hurt them...much-unless they struggle, then it should all be fair game, right?)
Favorite book set on a tropical island?
I set my first ever full-length story on a tropical island - alas, no one appreciated my genius (I do! I really do!!!). I do have a favorite M&B title from years ago - it's probably 30 or 40 years old, and it's about a woman who goes to a tropical island and meets a domineering, bad-tempered hero. Turns out she has a tumor and he's the only surgeon who can operate on her (he hasn't been operating after a bad emotional trauma). I must've read this book a zillion times. In fact, writing this makes me want to go dig it up from my keepers. It's wildly romantic, and utter fantasy, and I love it! (the sex adds to it too, the steamy hot stuff, okay? not the lame flowery or blacked out types.)
What hero would you like to be your significant other
Decisions, decisions... It all depends on my mood. Sometimes, a regency rake sounds like fun, while other times, I want to curl up with a changeling. Then there are the days when you just need a bad boy. Hmm...can I have more than one? (Of course! You're just never going to leave)
If you were stuck on a desert island what 3 things would you bring
Water (I have a practical streak), a satellite telephone so I could talk to family and friends, and a friendly genie - who could get me an endless supply of books and other necessities. (better be a hot genie so you can give him a good rubbin- what? who said that?)
Favorite drink to bring to DIK party
Butterscotch Schnapps (mmmm...)
A free copy of THE MAGICAL CHRISTMAS CAT (to be posted out when Nalini gets her author copies) is up for grabs, just leave comment during the Nalini Hostage Crisis to be entered into this drawing. Winner will be drawn at random on Saturday! (Wheee!!!! And I didn't use the ropes once, I'm such a good girl *cough*)
