About Me featuring Lesley

It's Hump Day! Woohoo! And our Island girl today is Lesley!

Lesley's a voracious reader and book addict from the UK. According to her if she goes too long without reading a book, she goes into withdrawal!

Favorite Reading Position
In bed - isn't everyone's? Did you want me to be more specific? LOL

Best love song
Blurry by Puddle of Mudd. Not your traditional love song I admit.

Favorite Heroine
Mercy Thompson

Author everyone loves but you don’t
It's not authors but styles. I can't get along with Jacquelyn Frank's writing. But I know lots of people love her books.

If you could be in one book/series/world which would you pick
I think I'd like to go to Joren. Which is featured in S. L. Viehl's Stardoc series. I find their whole culture fascinating.

How old is your inside voice
18 most of the time. Somedays younger, somedays older.

If you could be a hero who would you be
I'd aspire to be Jeremy Danvers from the Otherworld series. He seems to have an endless supply of patience which is something I value, having the tolerance of a distressed porcupine myself.

What heroine is most like you
Jaime Vegas (see this is why I like Jeremy). There's a scene in one of the books where she's on the phone to him and is basically incoherent because it's JEREMY - and that would be me. LOL

What heroine would you like to be
Kate Daniels or Mercy Thompson.

Boxers, Briefs, boxer briefs, kilt (I say we add commando)
boxer briefs, though kilt should always get a vote

Favorite book set on a tropical island
LOL I don't really read any books set on tropical islands. They're all moody urban settings, usually at night, with newspapers blowing across deserted streets. Come to think of it I don't think I've ever read a book set on any kind of island. I'd have to cheat and say Lost which is the closest I get to an island.

What hero is most like your significant other
Significant otherless, alas. :(

What hero would you like to be your significant other
Jeremy Danvers. Have I got a fixation or what?

If you were stuck on a desert island what 3 things would you bring
pens and paper (does that count as one choice?), toilet roll, first aid kit (assuming someone else has brought the radio that's gonna get us out of there, if we need to leave)

Favorite drink to bring to the DIK party
whiskey and ginger

Yes, bed is the best place to read. You don't have to go into details if you don't want to. *cheeky grin* How's the weather in the UK these days? :)
I keep hearing about the Otherworld series and I really got to read Mercy. Are you talking ginger in whiskey? Is it good?
Very nice interview. New stuff to read. :D

Alys - the weather in the UK is best described as changeable at the moment. Lots of sunshine and torrential rain.

The Otherworld and Mercy Thompson series are perhaps two of my favourites. Love them.

And it's ginger ale with whisky, usually Canadian dry.

You know what I appreciate? That Lesley ties her photo guy up to keep him there. That's VERY organized of you! ;o)

Hi Lesley! I love the Mercy Thompson series too! She is a great heroine, smart and strong, yet she knows when to ask for help.

I have only read the first two books of the Otherworld series and I am a Clay fan myself. Although, I do plan on reading more of this series because I hear Jeremy gets his own book. Yum!

Whiskey and Ginger! I've never tried that. I love Jeremy Danvers too. I know Kelley Armstrong has a book out about him, and I totally need to get on that, as he was great in Bitten. Kate and Mercy - great heroine picks!!!

I'm not a huge fan of whiskey but w/ gingerale it's pretty good. Nice choice ;)

Marykate - LOL, kudos to Anne Rainey for finding the photo, I snook it off her blog. (Not sure if snook is a word. )

Jill - I am going mad waiting for Cry Wolf, there's rumors flying about that copies are already available. I feel like an addict trying to get a fix. Jeremy and Clay are having their short stories published next year. And Jeremy has quite a big appearance in No Humans Involved. I love the relationship he has with Jaime.

scytqjCarolyn Jean and Katie - Yep I heartily recommend whiskey and ginger. It's a great drink when it's cold outside, warms you up from the inside out.

GREAT heroine choices! I've read the first Otherworld series, but probably have to keep reading to learn the lure of Jeremy. From the first book he sounded a LOT like Bran (Mercy Thompson's head honcho).

CRY WOLF copies are already available??? WHERE???? I NEED ONE!!!

Ciara said...

Alice - you haven't read Mercy yet??? WHY EVER NOT? She's AMAZING.

little alys said...

Lesley- Ah, ginger ale and whisky. Haven't tried that either. >_< Hmmm...books.

Ciara- I will start it soon, honestly, I will. Just not yet. Not until the next book is out. Teehee. I'm usually hesitant on unending series.

I'm a little worried about that picture, Lesley. It limits the, um, possibilities, don't you think?
LOL And as for whiskey, I'll take mine straight and on the rocks, please.

Isn't Mercy great? :)

Cry Wolf? Available? Where? My greedy hand are getting grabby!

JenB said...

OMG, so many blogs to keep up with...why do I always forget this one???

Very fun answers, Lesley. :)

I love ginger ale with pretty much anything.

JenB said...

Oh yes, and lovely photo. I've stolen him for my own personal use. *evil grin*

Lesley, I didn't realize that Jeremy didn't quite have a story all to himself yet. I must have gotten confused. I just requested Dime Store Magic from the library. I have quite a bit of catching up to do before I can get to No Humans Involved.

Sarai said...

Wow you be a tuff girl Whiskey and ginger OMG I would die and let me just say I'm not normally a cheap date but one time in college with Whiskey and Dr. Pepper... to this day I still get a little green around that combo of smells!

Great answers I'll have to check out this series you like so much LOL

I love Blurry. Ok, I love Puddle of Mudd so really I like most of their songs, but I particularly like this one.

Jeremy. I just love him. I have to admit to not getting past Dime Store Magic. Wait, I stopped after the first 2 and couldn't get through DSM. I'm not giving up yet though!

Whiskey and ginger - oooh! On your recommendation I will try this soonly. :)

Bed is also my favourite place except now most of my books are e-books and I don't have (or want) a reader b/c the screens are too small.

Sorry you're having so much rain - but then your temperature is like Vancouver's.
Love your drinks choice! Whiskey and ginger!

LesleyW said...

Ciara - YES! I think Jeremy is a lot like Bran. Probably why I like Bran a lot too.

A shop in London had some copies, but they won't be having any more in til towards the end of July. :(

LesleyW said...

Lisabea - I've been caught out on the tp desert island situation before. LOL

Donna - He looks so pretty just hanging there. :)

LesleyW said...

Jen - I stole him too from Anne Rainey...:)

Jill - He and Clay have a book coming out next year which follows how Clay came to be adopted by Jeremy.

Tracy - Yep Blurry is one of my favourite songs. And if you don't like the witches stories which would be DSM and IM you can skip them. But Industrial Magic is one of my favourites of the series. I'm completely biased when it comes to Kelley Armstrong's writing, there's just something about it that I gel with. Even when I think I won't like something she's written, I always have.

Christine said...

Jack & Ginger!!! Two of my very best friends! I could drink it all night. WooT! Over ice is nice.... Mmmm...

Can I just add that I LOVE Mercy Thompson. I think you and I have verrrrry similar tastes in heroines, Lesley. I love Kate Daniels, too. But I think I love Mercy a teeny bit more. She's a bit more down to earth and vulnerable which is more like me.

Christine said...

And I've always wanted to read Kelley Armstrong. I'm going to try to get her new YA book set in the Otherworld and then go back to the adult series. I believe I have Bitten in my TBR mountain.

LesleyW said...

Christine - I like heroines that can take care of themselves. But there's just something about the guys that these heroines end up with - Curran and Adam - it just makes me melt.

Bitten is one of my DIK. It is the urban fantasy I would recommend for anyone who has never read UF. It's one of the few novels that I re-read and it's always fresh. Wow - hope if you read it, it lives up to that recommendation.

The rest of the Otherworld series probably comes more down to personal taste. If you don't like witches or angels or ghosts there are some books you're not going to like as much as others. But I think Bitten can stand as a brilliant UF novel in its own right.

Tracy said...

Lesley - I seriously loved the first 2 books in Armstrong's series so it was so sad when I couldnt' get through DSM. Will I miss a ton if I don't read it?

LesleyW said...

Tracy - I think her books are written in such a way that you could probably just read the werewolf books.

For people who aren't keen on DSM, I'd try Industrial Magic mainly because it introduces the Cabal system which plays a big role in later books.

Haunted follows Eve who is a half-demon who died in (actually before) book 2. I quite like Eve, and this book has Jaime in it, and Jaime means more Jeremy.

Then we're back to the werewolves with Broken.

Lots of people only read the werewolf books, so you could go from Stolen to Broken, what you'd miss is the back story on the other characters who make minor appearances in Broken. But as it's mainly about the werewolves it shouldn't stop you enjoying the story.

Then we go on to No Humans Involved which is Jaime's story and so Jeremy plays a big role.
