About Me featuring Mary Kate

Mary Kate is the next DIK Lady to be spotlighted. She lives in the DC area, reads a whole lot of romance and loves pro-football. Go Kati!

(She also feels that God was having a VERY GOOD day the day David Beckham was created)

Favorite Reading Position
Sitting in my chair. It's a yummy recliner that is covered in beautiful, soft velvety fabric.

Best love song
At Last by Etta James

Favorite Heroine
Lady Jessica Trent, Lord of Scoundrels, Loretta Chase

Author everyone loves but you don’t
MaryJanice Davidson. I don't get her humor.

If you could be in one book/series/world which would you pick:
Nalini Singh's Psy/Changelings, but only if I can be Hawke's heroine.

How old is your inside voice:
Oh God, really? 15. In a lot of things I never evolved past age 15.

Favorite sex song
Ummm, if I remember correctly, it's Let's Get it On by Marvin Gaye. But it's been a while.

If you could be a hero who would you be
Why on earth would I want to be a hero? I'd much rather HAVE the hero than BE him.

What heroine is most like you
Lillian Bowman, It Happened One Autumn by Lisa Kleypas

What heroine would you like to be
Merry Patricia Wildling from The Windflower. Except I think I'd probably go for Rand Morgan, not Devon.

Boxers, Briefs, boxer briefs, kilt (I say we add commando)
Please. Commando.

Favorite book set on a tropical island
The Windflower by Tom and Sharon Curtis (also my favorite romance of all time)

What hero would you like to be your significant other
Lucas Hunter from Nalini Singh's Slave to Sensation.

If you were stuck on a desert island what 3 things would you bring
1. Books
2. Food & Water
3. Ehem, feminine products.

Favorite drink to bring to the DIK party
Maker's Mark and Diet.

LOL Mary Kate! I picked that same favorite sex song. I actually had it as the ring tone on my cell phone assigned to my hubby, but it was getting embarrassing in public!

Hey!!! How come I didn't get a picture of a hawt guy??? Do we have to supply them? Is it too late for me to add one?
And laughing that we both chose Jessica!! I've never tried MJD - she just doesn't appeal to me either. And good call on The Windflower - although Cat is also very interesting. And *laughing* being the grandkidless grandmother of the group - I don't have to worry about your final item on your list to bring - leaves me room for something more intersting.

I have Jessica Trent too in my list. LOL.

And oh, David Beckman! I love thee.

How can we forget to bring feminine products on the island.
Well in my DIK island, it is like a romance novel, so none of that. No potty breaks and I smell like roses all the time ;P

OMG DB is so freakin HAWT!!!!

Kristie I added one so go ahead either add it yourself or have Tracy do it. B/c the world needs hawtness!

Dang, these pics just get hotter and hotter!

I've never read The Windflower, but I think it's something I should add to my tbr. :)

Let's Get It On!!!

Why didn't I think of that one? So HAWT. And David Beckham should be illegal.::wipes drool from chin, chest, keyboard:: And his wife should eat a fricken cheeseburger.

Nicely done, MK.

AS I said, LB. God was having a VERY good day the day he worked on Becks. LOL!

Tracy said...

Sarai is correct - if you send me a hot man pic it will be added. You can send me one now Kristie and I'll post it for you! :)

Shannon said...

You are giving me a whole new appreciation of Becks. Yowza!

Ah, MJD, yeah, I kinda have to agree with you. Some of her older stuff were pretty good and I still follow her recent stuff, but I think her humor's kinda...not.

You all like DB? He's not bad, but is he really all that great? I still think Gerard's better. :P

I've been seeing the Windflower a lot, may I need to start browzing for it. ^_^
Wonderful post!

Can you believe that the Chicago Public Library system does not have a single copy of the Windflower? Not even one!!!

ROFL - How could I have forgotten about feminine products. LOL

Tracy said...

Shannon - I think we all did! lol well, except MK!

little alys said...

Thank goodness MK remembered!
Umm...with all the sexin in those huts, shouldn't there be another worry? *cough*

You know, Katie just brought up something I've been continually discussing with a friend or two. The...er...natural body functions are actually starting to show up more in books. Just a bit, ya know. ;)

I think my favorite use of the monthly visitor is in the book Mr. Perfect (Linda Howard). The heroine lies to the hero and says she is ovulating and has "sperm eating eggs!" A couple days later she gets her period and he find out. Then he realizes she lied and withheld on purpose. haahaaaaa! Fabulous.

It was a nice change from historicals and catagories that only mention if the heroine does or does not get her "monthlies" to signal whether or not she got knocked up by their one night of bliss.

OMG I'm a fan of Becks....he is perfection.
great answers :)

I want to be Hawke's heroine....*sob* Can we share?

Tracy said...

It's our island and we don't have those problems. Right? Well - we can make it official. No need to for birth control either! lol

Kristie (J) said...

All Right! *fist pump* sending pic shortly - and I know the exact one!!!

Hey MK! Sorry I missed your "About me" yesterday. Last day of school... all kinds of craziness here.

Speaking of last day of school... I'm developing a repertoire of morning drinks I might need to get me through the summer. So I need to know what's in a Makers Mark and Diet?

Kati said...

Christine - LOL!

Maker's Mark is an brand of Kentucky Bourbon.

Diet = Diet Coke.

I'm a simple girl with simple tastes.

Christine said...

Ahhh. Gotcha.

*cheers*

Sweeet. You're like Lillian Bowman? I love her! I'm even thinking of naming my daughter after her, should I have one.

I really enjoy Loretta Chase's books, esp LOS. Noice! And I so understand about David, there is just something about that man...merow!

MK ~ I just heard Etta James "At Last" yesterday and marveled again at what a wonderful song it was. I love that one.

You also picked my favorite romance of all time, but I believe we have waxed rhapsodic on The Windflower before, lol. Hmmm, I'd choose Cat. And Rand. Together. Oh man. Hose me down. Just the thought. And the book is out of print, so it's not surprising that they've all been stolen from the library, and the library can't replace them, Shannon.

I met MJD at RT. She is actually very cool in person. Very nice, personable, funny. She was certainly the only author at her level of popularity walking around and introducing herself to people and mingling with the masses. She made a lot of fans at RT just by being so friendly and approachable.

Great answers! I'd have a lot of the same answers ~ I love Etta James: Jessica Trent is probably one of the best heroines ever created; and I just don't get MJD either. I've tried, but I don't get it.
