Love Songs

What is about love songs that make us turn to mush? What is it about them that make us wish it was our man that was singing to us? Is this why so many of us find musicians sexy?

I mean we've all heard Madly Truly Deeply by Savage Garden right?
I'll be your dream
I'll be your wish
I'll be your fantasy.
I'll be your hope
I'll be your love
Be everything that you need.
I love you more with every breath
Truly madly deeply do..
I will be strong
I will be faithful
'Cos I'm counting on a new beginning.
A reason for living.
A deeper meaning.

How can you not sigh hearing that? Now just imagine if your SO or your favorite hero was whispering those words to you? Yeah melt in your pants no?

Or who could forget this fantastic song from The Phantom of the Opera
No more talkof darkness,
Forget these wide-eyed fears.
I'm here, nothing can harm you - my words will warm and calm you.
Let me be your freedom, let daylight dry your tears.
I'm here with you, beside you, to guard you and to guide you...
Let me be your shelter, let me be your light.
You're safe: No-one will find you - your fears are far behind you...
Then say you'll share with me one love, one lifetime...
let me lead you from your solitude....
Say you need me with you here, beside you...
anywhere you go, let me go too - Christine, that's all I ask of you...
Now granted I only picked out Raoul's lines but still there's something about those lyrics that always touch me.

Or how about this one? by Bryan Adams
Look into my eyes - you will see
What you mean to me
Search your heart - search your soul
And when you find me there you'll search no more
Don't tell me it's not worth tryin' for
You can't tell me it's not worth dyin' for
You know it's true
Everything I do - I do it for you
Look into my heart - you will find
There's nothin' there to hide
Take me as I am - take my lifeI would give it all
I would sacrifice
Don't tell me it's not worth fightin' for
I can't help it there's nothin' I want more
Ya know it's true
Everything I do - I do it for you
There's no love - like your love
And no other - could give more love
There's nowhere - unless you're there
All the time - all the way
Don't tell me it's not worth tryin' for
I can't help it there's nothin' I want more
I would fight for you - I'd lie for you
Walk the wire for you - Ya I'd die for you
Ya know it's true
Everything I do - I do it for you

*sigh* I'll be the first to admit that if any man said/sung those words to me I would totally melt. I think it would be, by far, one of the most romantic gestures I've ever received. So what is it about love songs that make you melt? Is it the thought of a man singing it to you? Or is it the words themselves? If your SO wrote you a love song would you melt?

Hub plays guitar and writes songs. Early on in our marriage he wrote a song for me.

It was called: "I love you...even though your farts stink".

I think that just about sums up how romantic my hub is!

I would love to have my hubby sing to me...he's just not that type of guy. If he wrote songs he'd probably write one like Jenre's hubby...which is hilarious by the way! lol

I've got to admit I would even stick with a guy who wrote that song Jenre LOL. Just the fact he tried.

I'm going to be serious now!

My favourite love song is "The first time ever I saw your face" by Roberta Flack.

The lyrics are:

****

The first time ever I saw your face
I thought the sun rose in your eyes
And the moon and the stars were the gifts you gave
To the dark and the end of the skies

And the first time ever I kissed your mouth
I felt the earth move in my hand
Like the trembling heart of a captive bird
That was there at my command, my love

And the first time ever I lay with you
I felt your heart so close to mine
And I knew our joy would fill the earth
And last, till the end of time, my love

The first time ever I saw your face
Your face
Your face
Your face

****
It's so beautiful...sigh.
