Fiona Jayde Talks About Her Desert Island Keepers

Welcome back to our second day of fun and sun at DIK Fiona! As is tradition I agreed to let Fiona borrow my blowfish bikini top, and her pirate dude kept eyeballing it so I thought it best to comply. lol

Hows the fit there Fiona? I have to say, you and your pirates sure know how to party that was an awesome luau last night!!

Um... That's quite a top Lea! LOL! The luau was awesome - someone had Captain Morgan on hand:)

So, without further adieu I’m turning the mic over to Fiona, who is going to talk about her 5 favorite DIK books she has brought along to the island.

Dood - just 5? LOL

My very favorite book is Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas - the Russian version.

I re-read it almost every year and each time find something new that I didn't realize before. I love the dashing D'Artagnan, and I've even declared that I'm going to marry him - I was 10 at the time. (Funny part? My hubby has a very similar looking mustache to the guy on the cover!) I also adore Athos - he is the original tortured hero!

Gentle Rogue by Johanna Lindsey - I just love that book. There's so much sexual tension, and James Mallory - the hero - is just so freaking sexy! I love the back and fourth banter between him and Georgina, and I seriously love that he coerced her brothers into forcing him to marrying her, keeping his reputation and still getting the woman he loves.

Ice Blue by Anne Stuart - this was one of the few times where I developed a crush on the hero - Takashi O'Brian. Its just an amazing book - full of thrills and chills and enough sexual tension to have me shivering. I love the theme of "hero may have to kill the heroine but falls in love with her" - and I've re-read the book a number of times and still can't put it down.

Glory In Death by J.D Robb - this is the second book in the In Death series and still my favorite. This is where Eve - the kickass heroine who hides a soft heart - has to come to terms with her feelings toward Roarke - and the struggle is so intensely powerful I can't take my eyes off those two. I love the In Death series - but that book is my ultimate favorite.

Beyond Eden by Catherine Coulter is another of my favorite re-reads. Its about surviving a horrific ordeal and still being able to open your heart to love. The book features an amazing heroine and tough as nails but soft inside hero. And a seriously messed up family dynamic - complete with Italian royalty to boot.

Fiona's Question Today:

Readers - what are some of your favorite re-reads and why?

Thanks Fiona! Excellent choices… :)

Contest now closed to entries.

As I mentioned yesterday, in addition to being a gifted writer, Fi is also a talented graphic designer who crafts her own videos. Check out this one for her Sci Fi Erotic Romance "Cold Victory":

Intergalactic warfare has not been kind to humans. Convicted pilot Zoya Scott has the chance to avenge her family, redeem an act of desperation with that of sacrifice. She’ll end this war if she betrays the man whose touch burns through her soul, the man whose ship and crew she must destroy. The man who is her bloodmate.

Commander Galen Stark never expected the convicted pilot on his ship to be anything more then a good looking inconvenience. A small brush of their hands grips him with vicious lust, a need he can’t control. She is his bloodmate – a biological reaction burning through his veins.

Except she carries an explosive. And Stark may have to give the order to destroy them all.

Excerpt and Ordering Information

Fiona returns for her final day on DIK tomorrow and will be chatting with us about.. Well, you’ll have to stop by and check out her awesome post!

Oh "Gentle Rogue" is one of my shelf keepers too - actually anything by J.Lindsey is. I've enjoyed decades of reading her romances and hope to keep reading them for many years to come.

My favorite re-reads are ANYTHING by Linda Howard, LaVyrle Spencer and Johanna Lindsey. I also re-read most of Jude Deveraux and Heather Graham/Shannon Drake - love all those talented ladies!

:)

Wow that trailer was brilliant. Very nice.

favorite rereads...I don't reread. I really can't think of 1 title I reread. I might reread a series book if it has been so long since the last book, but not likely.

Morning islanders!
Thanks for putting up with me - last night did get a little crazy didn't it... LOL

@MsM - OMG same here - I adore Johanna Lindsey, but the first two Malory novels are my favorite... Though I love the Viking ones... And the Sci Fi one..

@Carol - you'll have to let me know what you think of Three Musketeers. The movies never do them justice. And exactly about Glory in Death - the emotions are just so potent in that book, it always has me tearing up a little.

@Ellie - thank you about the trailer:) As for not re-reading that just means you have more time to discover awesome new reads:)

Glad you enjoyed the Partaay last night Fi! I loved your favorite book picks and the fact you read Russian is so interesting - I always wonder if books translate the same between languages.

Thanks so much for joining us again! And thanks to everyone for visiting and commenting!

Counting those entries. ;)

Hello,

I'm actually a fan of all of the books you mentioned in your fave re-reads. I often re-read books myself - Cry No More by Linda Howard, Paradise by Judith McNaught, Out of Control by Suz Brockamnn, Show No Mercy by Cindy Gerard, Killjoy by Julie Garwood and I could probably go on...

Oh I love D'Artagnan - no matter what book or film or how they portray him. He's just one great guy.

I've read Black Ice by Stuart and loved it but haven't gotten to the others in that series. If Ice Blue is anything like that one I'm sure it's wonderful.

My favorite re-reads:
The first 3 books in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. So romantic I could just read them over and over.
Jennifer Crusie's Welcome to Temptation. Humor, witty dialogue, romance, good stuff.
KMM's Highlander books 4 & 5 because I just love those twins!
Pack Challenge by Shelly Laurenston - I think this one just makes me laugh so hard and I love the relationship and interactions the heroine has with her friends.

Three favorite rereads of mine are
Lover Awakened by JR Ward--This was my favorite BDBH book, favorite BDBH hero. That kinda explains it :-) Besides, I love a good tortured hero, and Z is pretty much the definition.

Heart of the Dragon by Gena Showalter-- Oh le sigh. I so adore this book. Adore, adore, adore, adore.

And The Madness of Ian Mackenzie-- Historical. Wonderful. Passionate. Fantastic. :-)

Hi Fiona,

I cut my teeth with Nora Roberts when I started really getting into romance. I've since ventured into discovering different authors. Though one of my favorite re-reads is Nora Roberts' Born In trilogy because the bond of family is so richly written.

I re-read Karen Marie Moning's Highlander series because of my love of highland/time travel stories.

And finally I love re-reading Susan Elizabeth Phillips' Chicago Stars series because of all her funny characters and heart-warming stories.

I love to re-read Carolina Moon by Nora Roberts, Shades of Twilight by Linda Howard, Megan's Mark by Lora Leigh, Amanda by Kay Hooper, Open Season by Linda Howard and all of Lisa Jackson's books. They're all romances...for the most part they are all romantic suspense.

*hugs*
Anna

I don't usually re-read. There are too many books out there I haven't read yet. I did keep some, but I never got around to re-reading them, so I gave them away.

I hardly ever reread, but I do have a few. Mine are the Williamsburg series by Elswyth Thane, especially the first three, and the Scarlet Pimpernel. They were my first romances, so there's a lot of sentimental value. I've also added Acheron to the list recently. I have a huge soft spot for tortured heroes too.

I've always thought that blowfish bikini top looked like it would bite...

Um. Favorite rereads... I've reread Bellwether by Connie Willis a few times over the years. And Babel-17 by Samuel R. Delaney.

How weird is it that I think I might have read 'Gentle Rogue'? It looks so familiar!

I really liked Reno from Stuart's Ice series. Takashi was a great character too though. I don't re-read too often but mine are Little Women (I adore Jo even if she doesn't end up with Laurie- which I always thought was wrong) and The Stand (I can't explain why I like it so much but I've re-read it more than any other book).

OMG Gentle Rogue is my all time favorite book! I don't know how many times I have read it. I think it was like the second or third romance novel that I ever read and it honestly hooked me. I honestly could reread the entire Mallory series, but Gentle Rogue will always be my favorite! I love James!!

The Harry Potter Series!

Wicked Burn by Beth Kery. I love how Vic doesn't hold anything back. Niall's heartbreaking past and how Vic ultimately helps put her past behind her

Julie Garwood, JOhanna Lindsey, and Nora Roberts are three very talented authors that I can always pick up and read or reread.

Honestly my favorite reread is the Harry Potter series...I read them at least once a year.

Veronica Wolff
and so many more I just love books.

@Blodeuedd- its nice to come back to old favorites, isn't it?

@Lea - the translations are always interesting. I tried to read Three Musketeers in french (when I was in highschool and taking french) and failed miserably lol

@Runner10 - ooh Jude Deveraux - I haven't read her in a while! I should look her up!

@maryG - Ya know, I haven't read The Flame and The Flower... The name sounds familiar - Kathleen Woodwiss?
Great rereads though - Beth's books are some of my faves as well! I'll have to check out your other picks - the titles are intriguing:)

@kh - Leslie Kelly? I don't think I've heard of her - what does she write?

@Ina - don 't you love finding new things when you re-read something? Its like a new diamond fascet! Tell me more about the Black Jewels series? (I ask the questions for my own benefit - always looking to explore new reads and get recs:)

@Blanche - ya know, I thought I've read everything by Linda Howard, but I haven't read Mackenzie's Mountain. (HEHE now I have another LH to read - love her stuff!)

@Jennifer - some of my favorite authors! Have you read Perfect by Judith McNaught? I just love that book.

@Tracy - D'Artagnan is da man!! Black Ice was awesome - but Takashi in Ice Blue has my heart:)

@Chelsea - ya know, I haven't reread Lover Awakened. I loved it when I read it, but Jr Ward does too goo of a job on my emotional strings on that one.

@Armenia - I loved the Born Series! I've reread them recently actually:)

@sZAnna - some of my faves! I loooove romantic suspense as well. I've recently discovered Cindy Gerard who is also great.

@Chey - to make room for new books!

@Abbie - same here for the tortured heroes:)

@Chris - great, now you put that image in my head... Great...
Great re-reads!

@Jase - Gentle Rogue rules! Half the time I didn't know whether to laugh or cry!

@Ladyting - sigh Reno:) I loved Reno as well!

@Throughthehaze - I haven't read harry Potter yet:) I think I'm the only person on the planet who hasn't...

@Zina - awesome list and has some of my favorites!!
@Heather - Go James Malory fangirls!

I know there are tons more :)
