I don't know how it happened. I was careful. Lists were made. Blogs were read. Bookstores and libraries were trolled. Lunch was had with other bloggers. Much discussion was had, and many books were exchanged in parking lots.
Yet, somehow, oversights occurred anyway.
I admit it.
I have never read Joanna Bourne's My Lord and Spymaster. Or Meredith Duran's The Duke of Shadows. While historical romance was my gateway into the world of romance back when I was a teen, there are some really big names I still haven't read. Laura Kinsale, Eloisa James, and Suzanne Enoch, among others.
And, when it comes to classics, there are other reading oversights. Being a lit major in college, I actually read Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre 2 or 3 times for various classes, but sister Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights remains unread. Margaret Mitchell's Gone with the Wind is another classic I never got to.
Whenever these books (or other much-read books I haven't read) come up in conversation, I always feel like I'm missing out.
Over the last year, I've finally gotten around to reading books that everyone else seems to have read, like JR Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series, Loretta Chase's Lord of Scoundrels, and Nalini Singh's PsyChangeling series. And, if it hadn't have been for The Book Smugglers Guest Dare back in January, I'd still be a Lord of the Rings virgin. (I finally read The Fellowship of the Ring.)
So, now, it's the moment of truth.
I told you some of mine. Now you tell me yours.

I can't believe I still haven't read a Lisa Kleypas contemporary nor Jum Butcher! :)
Morning Renee:
Great post. I can't believe I still haven't read Nalini Singh's, PsyChangling series, and Jeaniene Frost's, Night Huntress series. Both of which I have glommed and are sitting in my TBR.
I've not just picked up 1 book either, but the ENTIRE series.
*sigh*..
I can't believe I still haven't read...Maya Banks, Megan Hart, JR Ward, Nalini Singh, Cindy Gerard, Mary Jo Putney, Nora Roberts(!)
There are simply too many choices plus, I'm picky and obsessive. When I find a writer I like, I glom so that leaves less time to discover other authors.
I can't believe I still haven't read...J.R. Ward, Gena Showalter, Wuthering Heights, and many more.
Lisa Kleypas or the Kenyon's Dark Hunter series. I know, kinda crazy.
Great post!
I can't believe I still haven't read.......
My mind is empty!
I can't think of any book I feel bad about not having read it yet, besides the books still on my wishlist, but those will be read once I got the time and money to get them, so not feeling bad about those.
Mandi: LK's Sugar Daddy is my all time favorite contemp! With Blue-Eyed Devil in close 2nd.
Jim Butcher was my introduction to UF. Just read Changes (his latest) last week, and it was his best yet!
Hope you get a chance to read them soon. :-)
Lea: Ooh, Nalini Singh-shiftery goodness! And, Bones from Night Huntress is vampire-y goodness, too.
lol. Bit of a glommer, are you?
Scorpio M: Yes! That is a hazard of a voracious reader, isn't it? Too many books, too little time.
Kara: Ward was a big one that made me feel I was missing the boat.
Tracy: I read my first Dark Hunters book last year! I really felt out of the loop, esp with all the Acheron hype when his book came out. It's a fun, light series (Though I've still only read about 3 in it.)
Sullivan McPig: Those are the ones that make me craziest: the ones already on my shelf, that I still haven't read! Because, when it comes down to it, with all the books on the tbr, I wind up choosing other titles and the "biggies" remain unread.
I can't believe I actually wasted time reading (well, listening to) Wuthering Heights. :)
I can't believe I still haven't read . . .the Doomsday Brethren series by Shayla Black. I have one of them in my bookshelf but I need to get the rest before I can start reading them.
hugs,
Anna
...Flowers in the Storm. And to make it worse, I started it and didn't finish! Someday, someday... -- willaful
*whispers* Charlaine Harris <-- I know, right?!
Lynn Flewelling's Night Runner series - but I'm rectifying that fact at the moment.
I still can't believe I haven't read The Book Thief - it's been on my TBR pile for ages.
And a series that I am DEFINITELY going to read this year is Megan Whalen-Turner's Attolian series starting with The Thief. :)
...Charlaine Harris, Jane Austen (I know!), or Linda Howard!
There are so many books out there - how do we keep up? lol I feel your pain, Renee. :)
I have never read Joanna Bourne's My Lord and Spymaster. Or Meredith Duran's The Duke of Shadows.
Ahhh, neither have I *ducks* I have also never read Sherrilyn Kenyon's books...oh, apart from Night Play (that's the only exception).
I haven't read Gena Showalter or Jim Butcher either...or Jeaniene Frost...or Charlene Harris. I am planning on reading Megan Whalen-Turner's The Thief this year if that helps...although I'm pretty much sunk, yes?
