Spring Pets

Hello again DIK! I'm back and this time I brought Mattias' friend, Miguel, who is tending the side bar over at SVZ Book Reviews this week.

This sand feels wonderful in between my toes and Matthias is doing a great job of bringing me Chocolate Martinis (though he does tend to get more chocolate ON him than in the glass - see yesterday for a refresher). But back home, spring has sprung and it sure does make everyone flirty! Pretty soon there are going to be so many baby animals wandering around my backyard I'm gonna wonder if I am Snow White reincarnated.

But really, I have a soft spot in my heart for animals in romance.

No matter a paranormal super-sexed werewolf (Unbound by Lori Devoti) ...

Or a common canine (Love is a Four-Legged Word by Kandy Shepard), the story always feels that much sweeter with a little fur to pet.

Any bookish "pets" you've ended up adoring lately?

I sure wish Spring would come visit me. Winter keeps rearing it's head instead. I'm jealous.

Bookish pets? Nope. Not that I can remember. But wanted to say howdy anyway. *waves* Howdy. :)

Howdy Amara! No spunky/hardy flow bulbs peeking their heads up at your house? Time to buy some flowers, girlfriend! :D

Been catching up on J.d. Robb's in Death series...Eve and Rorke have a peri-eyed cat named Galahad. He adds a great comic antics to a sometimes serious story line. I have a short-haired female version of him at home. So it's easy for me to picture Galahad at his best! lol

Oh yeah, they keep trying, and then it snows again and they go bye bye.

Jessica - That's very cool to have a home version! What's peri-eyed?

On the m/m side, I adore Poncho in James Buchanan's The Good Theif. He's a dog.

Hmm. I've read books with guys with cats and dogs but that's the only one I remember off hand where he was a real character. I just hate it when there is a pet but they kind of ignore it, spend the weekend with a guy and forget to mention that someone has to feed the dog or scoop the cat litter. So as long as it's realistic it works, but if you want to have a jet-setting character or one who works 14 hour days, don't include a pet because I will notice if you only trot it out for a cute moment now and then.

Tam - Good point! I do tend to notice the level of care with the pets. Pet neglect rubs me the wrong way even in pretend.

On a side note, I also tend to notice condom neglect. LOL
