5 Romances That Won't Leave My Shelves

Keira runs a book review blog for readers by readers on romance novels entitled Love Romance Passion. She’s been reading romance since she was a teenager and began blogging about romance so she could share her passion for her favorite genre. She loves reading paranormal, Regency, historical America, and highlander most of all and completely adores blind and wounded heroes.

(Keira's idea of a desert island!)

As I was writing my post for Katiebabs on the heroines I’d liked to be (when the post goes live on Katie’s blog this phrase should be linked to it) I thought of the romances I would never get rid of. I thought the lists would be the same, but surprise—they weren’t! Never would I have guessed that.

So, if I had to pair down my collection to just 5 books (a horrible, horrible thought… shudders…) these are the ones I would keep:

Endearment by LaVryle Spencer: Blueberries and vatermelon on a rustling corn ticks filled bed. Karl is one hunky Swede! Spencer wrote fantastic keepers and was my first romance author. She will always be dear to my heart.

Charming the Prince by Teresa Medeiros: A very literal raid for his heart. The only story I recommend with kids of an age to talk without reserve for personal tastes. I am completely confident saying this because I have recommended this book in the past and with great results.

Silence Speaks for Love by Emma Goldrick: She who holds her tongue gets her man along with help from an enormous well trained dog and feisty aunt. It’s a classic, my favorite Harlequin Presents to date… or really category in general.

Smooth Talking Stranger by Lisa Kleypas: Baby plots have never looked so good or made me laugh so hard.

Love is Blind by Lynsay Sands: He wants to keep her blinded to his looks and she just wants to get access to her glasses so she can see him perfectly once again. It’s so sweet. I never fail to sigh when reading it.

Now it’s your turn. You can only keep five romances; what would you pick?

My top 5 are really different because the majority of them were written before 1950:

1. Gone With The Wind
2. Wuthering Heights
3. Jane Eyre
4. Phantom of the Opera
5. Bronze Horseman.

I haven't read, watched, or heard of your number 5, Katie. What's it about?

Keira, I love that picture. It looks like the perfect desert island!

Paradise by Judith McNaught
Saving Grace by Julie Garwood
Slave to Sensation by Nalini Singh
Kiss an Angel by SEP
Mackenzie's Mountain by Linda Howard

I've heard that The Broze Horseman is really good, but I haven't read it yet.

The Bronze Horseman is by Paullina Simons and takes place in Russia during WWII. I read the book straight through for 6 hours and after wards I couldn't read another book for 2 weeks. It is an massive epic romance novel that blew me away. The hero is named Alexander and if I ever have a son, I will name him after the hero.

Oh man, Kiera I had to go through this painful process recently as part of my initiation to DIK!! lol

It is hard isn't it?

Mine sort of changes from year to year I think. However currently it would be:

Pleasure Unbound
Wicked Burn
Shibumi
The Love Poems and Sonnets of William Shakespeare
The Vampire Shrink (I think...)

Again this is a pretty fluid list. lol

Thanks for the great post!

Thanks Casee - I thought it fit perfectly with my love for historicals and the romance of a deserted island. It looks like my own little country. Luxury and isolation... bliss.

Katie - ooo... epic like Titantic or epic like Alexander is your Mr. Darcy?

Lea - Very! Vampire Shrink? Tell me more that sounds like a romantic comedy.

Witchy - I know isn't it the cutest little island ever?

Bridget - Loooove Years! Linnea is one of my fav heroines! I love how she scares poor Teddy! Then when the brothers get trapped in the snowstorm... heart wrenching.

I want to read Blue-Eyed Devil, you're not the first to say it's amazing!

Lori - My friend Sasha cut her romance teeth on Julia Garwood historicals. Garwood today is still her fav romance author.
